The Hill reports:
President Trump declared Friday he made progress toward averting a government shutdown after an “excellent” meeting with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) at the White House. Schumer emerged from the meeting, however, singing a different tune. The Democratic leader said there are a “good number of disagreements” with Trump on immigration and spending, even as they made progress toward an agreement.
Excellent preliminary meeting in Oval with @SenSchumer – working on solutions for Security and our great Military together with @SenateMajLdr McConnell and @SpeakerRyan. Making progress – four week extension would be best!
