Pecker Admits Planting Stories To Help Trump And Hurt Trump’s Enemies After Discussions With Michael Cohen

Reuters reports:

“I received a call from Michael Cohen telling me that the boss wanted to see me,” David Pecker said, adding that he and Michael Cohen always referred to Trump as “the boss.’” Pecker said that at the meeting, Trump and Cohen asked him what he could do and what his publications could do to help the campaign.

“I said what I would do is I would run or publish positive stories about Mr. Trump and I would publish negative stories about his opponents. And I said that I would also be the eyes and ears of – I said I would be your eyes and ears, because I know that the Trump Organization had a very small staff,” Pecker said.

“If I hear anything negative about yourself or if I hear anything about women selling stories, I would notify Michael Cohen.” Pecker said Cohen would then be able to have the stories not be published, or someone would have to purchase them.

CNN reports:

Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass also showed National Enquirer headlines about Marco Rubio, another one of Donald Trump’s 2016 rivals.

He asked David Pecker if they ran those headlines when Rubio was gaining popularity — the same question he asked about negative stories on Ted Cruz. Pecker said again, he believes that was the case, though he doesn’t remember when Rubio dropped out.

Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass asked David Pecker if an article from 2016 with the headline “Ted Cruz sex scandal 5 secret mistresses” was discussed with Michael Cohen. “We would have discussed that, yes,” Pecker says.

As you can see below, Pecker ran dozens of cover articles claiming that Hillary Clinton had “six months to live,” that Hillary Clinton had confessed to hiring hitmen, that Bill Clinton was “caught in a teen sex ring,” and many other claims then promoted by Trump.
