Mediaite reports:
“It’s really up to the Democrats. Totally up to the Democrats as to whether or not we have the shutdown,” Trump said in comments to reporters today.
“It’s possible that we’ll have a shutdown. I would say the chances are probably very good because I don’t think Democrats care so much about maybe this issue, but this is a very big issue.”
He went on to claim that “the wall will pay for itself on a monthly basis,” saying $5 billion is not much compared to the recent defense bill.

Pres. Trump claims, “The wall will pay for itself on a monthly basis…Literally, every month it pays for itself.” https://t.co/W46TRJ9ZBJ pic.twitter.com/I7WqmQuhsG

“The wall will pay for itself on a monthly basis,” Trump said, contradicting his previous claim that Mexico would pay for the border wall and threatening a government shutdown if a spending bill doesn’t include his $5B demand for funding it https://t.co/QTj5qScUCn pic.twitter.com/NUNy53tGWX
