I’ll be watching with hope for a “Trump sucks” chant.
Deadline reports:
President Donald Trump plans to attend tonight’s Game 5 of the 2019 World Series between the hometown Washington Nationals and the visiting Houston Astros.
Trump’s appearance was certified last night, as Houston took an 8-1 victory to create the need for a Game 5. The Nationals won the first two games of the series and were looking to sweep at home, but the Astros weren’t having it.
Trump will not throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Instead, chef and local restauranteur Jose Andres, who has criticized the president over immigration, will do the honors. Trump had joked that he didn’t want to wear the body armor necessary for such an exposed appearance, as it would make him look “heavy.”
ESPN reports:
A day after President Donald Trump said he plans to attend Game 5 of the World Series, the Washington Nationals announced that the ceremonial first pitch for that game will be thrown out by chef Jose Andres, a vocal critic of Trump’s.
Four years ago, Andres withdrew from plans to open a restaurant in the Trump International Hotel in Washington following Trump’s controversial comments about Mexican immigrants during the presidential campaign.
Trump Old Post Office, which runs the hotel as the landlord under a lease with the General Services Administration, sued Andres’ companies, Think Food Group and Topo Atrio, in July 2015 for breach of contract and claimed damages in excess of $10 million. Andres’ companies filed a counterclaim, and the case in D.C. Superior Court was settled in 2017.

So Trump is going to Game 5 today of the World Series? And he’ll be the first president since Taft who hasn’t thrown out a first pitch…hmm, what could Trump possibly have in common with Taft that would make each man reluctant to attempt this simple athletic feat? What…what..?

A source familiar tells me President Trump is expected to sit in a suite behind home plate here at Nats park tonight for Game 5 of the World Series with “friendly members of Congress” including Congressman Steve Scalise, Sen. Lindsay Graham, and Congressman Matt Gaetz.

Security was extra tight before Game 5 of the World Series with President Trump set to attend. "Today we had a German Shepard I didn’t feel comfortable petting," Nationals pitcher Stephen Stasburg joked. https://t.co/e7RbUhDm63
