The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports:
Rep. Jim Jordan, a conservative lawmaker and favorite among President Donald Trump’s supporters, won’t run for Ohio’s open U.S. Senate seat in 2022.
“Jordan is solely focused on representing the great people of Ohio’s Fourth District, and will not be running to fill the seat of retiring Senator Rob Portman,” a spokesman told Cleveland.com.
Jordan, 56, led the GOP defense of Trump during the House’s impeachment of the president following riots at the U.S. Capitol. Trump awarded Jordan the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honor.
Ohio Rep Jim Jordan, a fierce Trump defender, won’t run for the Senate next year to fill the seat of the retiring Sen. Rob Portman, according to a spokesperson for his congressional campaign. He will run for reelection in the House.
