So this happened yesterday:
The footage is striking. ABC congressional reporter Rachel Scott is trying to ask House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy about the Republican National Committee’s decision to censure two members of his conference. McCarthy is, um, running — or at least briskly walking — away. McCarthy tells Scott to make an appointment with his office and that it is “not good” for him to answer questions in the hallway.
Which brings us to a few minutes ago.
Kevin McCarthy today walked at a leisurely pace and then actually stopped and spoke to reporters.
He said “I agree” when @mkraju asked about Mitch McConnell’s description of Jan 6 as a violent insurrection.

McCarthy, asked if he agrees w/ McConnell’s assessment of Jan. 6 as a “violent insurrection,” says: “Yeah, I agree. Anyone who broke into this building- no one would disagree with that … the RNC was not referring to that.”

Kevin McCarthy ran away from that reporter so fast you’d think she was trying to have some legitimate political discourse. ?pic.twitter.com/MfFsvFyZjO

A day after McConnell criticized the RNC resolution for censuring Cheney and Kinzinger, McCarthy makes clear he has no issues with that. “The RNC put out their resolution, I think they have a right to do their resolution and what they wanted,” he told us pic.twitter.com/g0mCxTMUhr

Asked McCarthy if he agreed it was a “violent insurrection,” as McConnell said, House GOP leader said: “Yeah. I agree. Anyone who broke into this building, I mean, no one would disagree with that.” He added: “The RNC was not referring to that” on legitimate political discourse
