Brian Brown: We Never Trusted Trump, Send Us Money

Via email from hate group leader Brian Brown:

The DisRespect for Marriage Act imposing the recognition of same-sex ‘marriage’ on every state only passed because 12 Republican Senators voted against us. That dirty dozen was joined by 47 Republicans in the House.

Now former President Donald Trump has hosted the homosexual lobbying group Log Cabin Republicans at his Mar A Lago beachfront club in Florida where the attendees used the occasion to celebrate the law’s recent passage.

Have President Trump and the Republicans in Congress turned against us? It’s up to us to make sure they don’t.

Thanks to a $100,000 matching gift fund, your donation to NOM will be 100% matched, and new monthly donors will generate a TWELVE TIMES match.

He also told the homosexual organization, whose members worked hard to deliver Republican votes for the gay ‘marriage’ legislation that, “We are fighting for the gay community and we are fighting and fighting hard. With the help of many of the people here tonight in recent years, our movement has taken incredible strides.”

President Trump’s comments are disappointing, to say the least, and in many ways contrary to his record in office where he stood with conservatives on many issues including supporting life and religious liberty, appointing constitutionalist judges and opposing the imposition of key elements of the transgender agenda.

That said, Mr. Trump has never been a trusted ally when it comes to preserving marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

As a candidate in 2015 Trump reacted to the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision imposing gay marriage by calling it “settled law” and argued that Republicans needed to accept the ruling.

We at NOM have never accepted the ruling as settled because it is anti-constitutional, devoid of legal authority, and contrary to our nation’s history.

It appears that key members of the US Supreme Court don’t consider it settled either as at least two justices have openly called on the Obergefell case to be reexamined and overruled.

Mr. Trump has declared himself a candidate for president again in 2024. Should he run, NOM will give him every opportunity to explain his current position on issues, including the gay ‘marriage legislation that the group he hosted celebrated at his club, and whether the Obergefell decision should be overturned just as Roe was overturned because of its similarly flawed and illegitimate legal reasoning.

Please take an immediate step toward our goal by making a generous donation today. Every donation to NOM through the end of the year will be matched dollar for dollar, and new monthly donors will unlock a match of their monthly gift TWELVE TIMES OVER. Donations are tax-deductible.

As I reported yesterday, Tony Perkins is similarly upset over Trump’s comments to the Quislings.
