Cops: Republican RI Councilman Found Smoking Crack

Providence’s CBS affiliate reports:

Cranston City Councilman Matthew Reilly was arrested Monday morning after he was reportedly caught smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine in his car. Reilly, 41, was taken into custody Monday afternoon shortly after a passerby alerted an officer patrolling Pontiac Avenue that a man parked across the street appeared to be choking.

The officer walked over to the car to investigate and found the man, later identified as Reilly, in the driver’s seat with a glass pipe and a lighter in his hand. But the officer found a “white, rock-like substance” in the center console of Reilly’s car, according to the police report, which later tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl.
