Boycott Fail: Dodgers Play To Packed House Of 49,000

Los Angeles’s ABC affiliate reports:

Fans in attendance of Friday’s Pride Night at Dodger Stadium enjoyed the game and celebration of the LGBTQ community, despite the thousands of protesters outside who opposed the team’s decision to include the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in their event.

Fans were still able to make their way into the stadium and the Sisters were given their Community Hero award from the Dodgers in a small ceremony before the game. Eventually, the stands filled up with people ready to celebrate Pride and watch a baseball game.

Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts made it clear all were welcome at the ballpark ahead of the game as well. “I love everyone. Anyone who wants to come in and support the Dodgers, I’m all in, we’re all in,” said Roberts.

Bill Donohue is surely sobbing into the sleeve of his caftan.

As those who participated in last night’s lengthy comment thread will know, among the protesters and speakers were prominent anti-LGBTQ activists and hate groups, including the Red-Caped Catholic Loons, the Proud Boys, Pizzagate extremist Jack Posobiec, and comically bewigged “ex-gay” Church Militant founder Michael Voris.

Posobiec led the crowd in a prayer in Latin shortly before a speech by former Los Angeles sheriff Alex Villanueva, who appeared here multiple times for his anti-vax actions.

Prominent anti-LGBTQ Twitter users including Newsmax host Benny Johnson and a staffer for Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA posted widely shared images of the empty stadium, declaring the protest a success. Only a handful of their followers noted that the images were taken over an hour before the game began.

But late last night former NRA TV host and Newsmax commentator Grant Stinchfield threw cold water on their celebration with a post lamenting that the stadium was in fact full by game time.
