Notorious Anti-Vax Rioter Sentenced To Only 10 Days

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports:

A prominent right-wing and anti-vaccine activist from South Jersey will serve 10 days behind bars for her role in some of the most brutal fighting during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Federal prosecutors likened Stephanie Hazelton, 51, of Medford — who also goes by the moniker Ayla Wolf — to “a commander on the battlefield” as she marshaled rioters toward the tunnel entrance to the Capitol’s west side.

“This is the battle,” she shouted in videos of the melee later posted online. “Let’s go! Move forward! They cannot stop us all!” That clash for control over the entrance to the Lower West Terrace lasted over two hours, during which rioters repeatedly assaulted, threatened, pushed and beat police trying to keep them at bay.

The Cherry Hill Courier-Post reports:

Hazelton, 51, also received 90 days of home detention and two years of supervised release.  In a sentencing memorandum, her lawyer asserted Hazelton “deeply regrets her conduct and apologizes to the law enforcement officers who struggled in that chaotic scene.”

He said Hazelton, whose husband travels for his job in sales, devotes “virtually all of her time” to two home-schooled sons, ages 11 and 12, with special needs.

A prosecution sentencing memorandum said Hazelton’s role “contributed to the massive number of rioters who pushed against and assaulted … officers for nearly two hours .”  Hazelton’s attorney argued nothing connected Hazelton’s words to a specific assault on an officer.

The New Jersey Advance reports:

Among the 15 people who wrote letters to the judge on Hazelton’s behalf was Harvey S. Roseff, a councilman in Byram, Sussex County. He said New Jersey is a “better place” due to Hazelton “peacefully fighting” for family, parental and children’s rights – which he’s witnessed.

He also urged the judge to return Hazelton to her family, without encumbrances, saying, “Let’s allow her to flower anew.”

Hazelton wore black tactical gloves at the Capitol and was a lead instigator who constantly used the word “battle.” “Like a commander on the battlefield, she would march forward, shouting, ‘More men!’ and directing the rioters into the building’s entranceway

As you can see above, Hazelton attended the riot wearing a hat bearing the logo of the far-right Sons Of Liberty militia. In October 2022, I reported that she faced up to five years in prison.
