CNN reports:
Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis earned his first gubernatorial endorsement Saturday from Oklahoma GOP Gov. Kevin Stitt.
Ahead of DeSantis’ remarks in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Stitt said DeSantis is “the right guy to beat Biden for the next eight years.” Stitt highlighted DeSantis’ handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and argued that his tenure as Florida’s governor proves his leadership capacity.
“As fellow Governors during COVID, DeSantis did not surrender states’ rights and individual liberties over to groupthink,” Stitt said in a statement. Both governors passed similar measures to ban mask mandates in their states.

As I’ve reported many times, Stitt is an outspoken Christian nationalist who last year declared that he had claimed “every square inch of Oklahoma in the name of Jesus,” adding, “with the authority that I have as governor, and the spiritual authority and the physical authority that you give me, I claim Oklahoma for you.” During his first inauguration ceremony, Stitt and his wife dedicated his administration to “bringing people to Jesus.” That, more than anything else, is likely why Stitt prefers DeSantis over Trump, who famously can’t cite a single piece of scripture.
Gaggling with reporters after the Ponca City Rodeo, where DeSantis and his family stopped last night, Stitt said his endorsement was “nothing against Trump,” but “it’s time to turn the page.” https://t.co/g2Jootxnhb
