OR Pastor Sentenced To 13 Years On Child Sex Charges

Portland’s CBS affiliate reports:

The former pastor and co-founder of North Clackamas Bible Community was sentenced to 160 months in prison after he was found guilty for sex abuse, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced Tuesday.

Michael Sperou, 72, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration on May 19. It’s the third time since 2015 that Sperou has been tried for sexual abuse.

Sperou repeatedly sexually abused seven young girls at the church he pastored from 1988 to 1996, Schmidt said. He was arrested on June 19, 2014, by federal officers. The 12-person jury in the third trial delivered a unanimous guilty verdict on May 19.

Former members of his congregation have described the church as a cult. His sentence doesn’t change our running tally as he previously made the list when he was found guilty.
