Buffalo’s NBC affiliate reports:
2 On Your Side has learned from several sources that longtime U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins plans to step down. We are being told that Higgins is planning to leave his position in Washington to take over as the new president and CEO at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.

Governor Kathy Hochul would need to call for a special election to fill Higgins’ seat. State Senator Tim Kennedy, who currently represents south Buffalo in the State Senate, is one of the names being considered to fill the position once Higgins leave office.
