Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez handily won her Democratic primary over a conservative-backed challenger Tuesday. The “Squad” member racked up enough votes to beat back a challenge from political newcomer Marty Dolan.
The primary contest spilled beyond the confines of the 14th Congressional District’s Bronx and Queens boundaries, in large part because of Ocasio-Cortez’s national profile — and perhaps because of a conservative Texas group’s shaky grasp of New York City geography.
The Texas-based Job Creators Network put up billboards in Times Square — far from the district — blasting the lefty congresswoman and endorsing Dolan, a former Wall Street investor. “Hey AOC!” the billboards blared. “Time to pack it up.”
