House GOP Votes To Ban Salary For DHS Secretary

Politico reports:

The House adopted an amendment prohibiting funds for the salary of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas amid a series of votes on what to add to a homeland security funding measure.

That effort from Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), barring funds for Mayorkas’ salary, was adopted 193-173. Just one Republican and all Democrats voting opposed the amendment. A separate push from Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to reduce Mayorkas’ salary to $1 fell 200-208, with one member voting present.

Similar efforts have been adopted in the past, only to be stripped out as the House and Senate resolve differences between their versions of spending legislation.
