Trump Attacks Pentagon’s Nonexistent Electric Tanks

Politico reports:

Former President Donald Trump has spent recent weeks claiming the Biden administration’s climate policies will weaken the country’s ability to wage war. At rallies and in media appearances, Trump has said electric tanks and fighter jets powered by sustainable fuels would cripple American military might and leave troops vulnerable to attack.

It’s part of Trump’s long-standing pattern of spreading misinformation about clean energy, a tactic he uses to downplay the benefits of shifting the economy away from fossil fuels. In a Fox News interview earlier this month, Trump attacked electric tanks.

“They don’t go far and they have to pull a wagon because the wagon, the battery, is so big that the Army tanks will have a wagon like a child,” Trump said. “He’s pulling a wagon.” That echoes Trump’s false claims about electric tanks at a Wisconsin rally in May.

As the piece notes, the Pentagon has no plans to develop electric tanks or fighter jets.

They do say that decades from now a hybrid tank would allow the vehicle to power sophisticated electronics without draining its diesel fuel.

Trump, you will recall, has also claimed that stealth fighter jets are literally invisible to the human eye.
