Mike Huckabee Sues Meta Over Facebook Ads That Show Him Claiming To Be “Cured By CBD Gummies”

The pro-weed site Green Markets reports:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc on Monday, alleging the company approved and profited from false Facebook advertisements using his name and image to promote CBD products.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware, claims Facebook ads falsely stated Huckabee was leaving his Trinity Broadcasting Network show to endorse Fortin CBD gummies, Law360 reported. Some ads allegedly linked to a fake Fox News website, falsely reporting Huckabee had an autoimmune disease cured by CBD use.

According to the complaint, one advertisement attributed fictitious quotes to Huckabee, including: “CBD cured me and can save American lives” and “After connecting with this world-renowned team of doctors and scientists who found a solution to this problem, I can confidently say CBD is the future of medicine in America.”

Here’s an irony check from 2022:

The Huckster, as many have noted, has been seen frequently on TV parroting a claim for Relaxium as a “clinically proven” sleep aid. The claim led to a class-action lawsuit that, in short, called BS. It said Relaxium is a garden variety herbal remedy of no proven value.

It sought millions in damages on behalf of buyers. Huckabee is not a party to the case so he has no liability, just as when a huge verdict was returned over robocalls voiced by Huckabee to promote a faith-based movie.

In November, the maker of Relaxium, American Behavioral Research Institute, and the plaintiff in the federal lawsuit in New York indicated they had reached a tentative settlement of the lawsuit.

Huckabee is also featured on Truth In Advertising’s “Wall Of Shame” for promoting a “diabetes cure.” Hit the first link for more about the gummies ads.
