New Docs Expose Deal Granted Epstein By Trump Ally

The Associated Press reports:

Florida prosecutors knew the late millionaire and financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually assaulted teenage girls two years before they cut a plea deal that has long been criticized as too lenient and a missed opportunity to imprison him a decade earlier, according to transcripts released Monday.

The investigations uncovered Epstein’s close ties to former President Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew, as well as his once friendly relationship with former President Donald Trump and numerous others of wealth and influence who have denied doing anything criminal or improper and not been charged.

Circuit Judge Luis Delgado’s release of approximately 150 pages Monday came as a surprise, since there was scheduled hearing next week over unsealing the graphic testimony.

Former Miami U.S. attorney Alexander Acosta, who later became Donald Trump’s labor secretary, approved a secret agreement in which Epstein pleaded guilty to lesser state charges rather than face federal prosecution.

Epstein had to register as a sex offender, but suffered no other legal consequences for years, despite lawsuits from multiple women who said he had abused them when they were minors.

State Rep. Peggy Gossett-Seidman (R) who co-sponsored the bill to allow the records to be released, noted that two victims took their own lives in recent years. “This debacle should never again be allowed to occur in our court system,” she said. “
