CNY Central reports:
The administrative judge in Syracuse is removing Judge Felicia Pitts Davis from her role overseeing the Human Trafficking Intervention Court, linked with her alleged refusal to approve the marriage of two women, according to Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick.
On Nov. 16, Pitts Davis performed the wedding for a heterosexual couple before walking out of the room when it was time for two women to be wed. The couple, Shawntay and Nicorra Davis, said that it was an odd situation, one that made them feel small. Another judge had to come into the courtroom to ensure they went home as a happily married couple.
Fitzpatrick said Pitts Davis’ actions fit the definition for “bigotry” following a Grand Jury meeting with Shawntay and Nicorra. He is concerned about Pitts Davis overseeing cases that may involve a member of the LGBTQ community; a concern that appears to extend to others in the court system.

Further action against the judge is expected.
The lesbian couple says that the judge was “emotional and cried” while first performing a straight marriage but did not even knowledge them when she left the courtroom.
According to the Post-Standard, court officials tried to cover up for the judge and initially refused to confirm that any marriages at all had been officiated that day.
When reporters called the judge at home, her husband said their questions were “bullshit” and told them not to call again.
Love is love, and the law is the law.
Marriage equality is the law in New York, and you cannot refuse to perform a marriage ceremony because of a couple’s identity.
This is discriminatory, illegal, and will not be tolerated, plain and simple.https://t.co/Ye3KLzDfCO
