Duffy Voted Against FAA Funding During Final Term

Sean Duffy, former congressman and President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Transportation, is now investigating the tragic midair collision between American Eagle Flight 5342 and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C.

However, Duffy’s past legislative record reveals he previously voted against a 2019 appropriations bill, H.R. 267.

According to the bill’s summary, the legislation contained funding for FAA operations, facilities and equipment, research, engineering, and development, and grants-in-aid for airports. The FAA has faced mounting challenges due to outdated technology and staffing shortages, issues that have been exacerbated by inconsistent funding.
