The Hill reports:
On Tuesday, Daniel Ball’s case tied to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack was formally dismissed after he received a full pardon from President Trump. But by Wednesday, Ball was arrested once more on a pending federal gun charge. Ball was charged in May 2023 with 12 counts tied to the Capitol attack, including assaulting, resisting or impeding officers using a dangerous weapon and using explosives to commit a felony.
In his new indictment, there’s no mention of those charges, which Trump wiped from his record. However, Ball’s two previous convictions — for domestic violence battery by strangulation in June 2017 and battering and resisting law enforcement with violence in October 2021 — are detailed in the charging papers. He’s accused of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, around May 2023.
From CNN’s 2023 report:
The FBI on Tuesday arrested a Florida man accused of setting off an “explosive device” in the US Capitol tunnel during the attack on January 6, 2021. In one of the most violent scenes of the Capitol riot, a line of police officers protected an entrance to the building against violent rioters who used poles, bats, fists, stolen riot shields, chemical spray and, according to court documents, small explosives to attack the officers.
Daniel Ball, 38, of Homosassa is facing multiple charges in connection with his involvement in the Capitol attack after being arrested last week by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly assaulting seven people including two law enforcement officers in unrelated charges in Florida. Ball was identified by his probation officer, after officers showed several photos and videos of him throwing an explosive device at the lower west terrace tunnel.
Expect many more of these.
Daniel Ball, the guy who was charged for setting off an explosive device during the J6 attack on our Capitol and had his case tossed by Donald Trump’s mass clemency grants, was just arrested for federal gun charges. pic.twitter.com/zRS5TzyMzp
