CNN reports:

At least 15 people have died in the attack in New Orleans, according to an official statement from New Orleans Coroner Dr. Dwight McKenna.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that unfolded in the French Quarter. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected,” McKenna’s statement read.

“As of now, 15 people are deceased. It will take several days to perform all autopsies. Once we complete the autopsies and talk with the next of kin, we will release the identifications of the victims,” McKenna’s statement read.

The Daily Beast reports:

Former Princeton wide receiver Tiger Bech was among the 15 killed in a possible “terrorist attack” in New Orleans early Wednesday morning. The 28-year-old Louisiana native starred at the Division I university between 2016 and 2018, where he earned “All-Ivy League” honors.

Others killed by a truck that rammed into New Years’ Eve revelers included the 18-year-old Nikyra Dedeaux, who traveled to the Big Easy from Mississippi to ring in 2025 against her mother’s wishes. She was set to begin a nursing program in two weeks in her home state.

Also killed was 37-year-old Reggie Hunter, a warehouse manager from the Louisiana capital of Baton Rouge. He and his cousin decided “on a whim” to go to Bourbon Street on Tuesday night, reported the Times-Picayune.

Early this morning the mayor of New Orleans said that most of the victims were locals.
