Mediaite reports:
Rep. Nancy Mace defiantly repeated an anti-trans slur Wednesday after being called out for using it during a hearing. Mace participated in a House Oversight hearing on “Government Efficiency & Waste.” After Mace listed off a variety of expenditures, ranking member and U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly made a parliamentary inquiry about Mace’s use of the term “tranny.” “The gentlelady has used a phrase that is considered a slur in the LGBTQ community and the trans community,” Connolly said.
“Tranny, tranny, tranny!” Mace fired back. “I don’t really care. You want penises in women’s bathrooms and I’m not gonna have it. No, thank you. It’s disgusting.” When order was restored, Connolly continued his inquiry. “To me, a slur is a slur,” he said, “and here in the committee, a level of decorum requires us to try consciously to avoid slurs. You just heard the gentlelady actually actively, robustly repeat it; and I would just ask the chairman that she be counseled that we engaged.”
