Major Cities See “No Kings Day” Protests [VIDEO]

Yahoo News reports:

Demonstrators in New York City filled Manhattan’s Union Square on Monday afternoon, February 17, demanding Congress “uphold the Constitution and end executive overreach,” organizers said. Footage taken by Gili Getz shows the scene in Union Square on Monday afternoon. Demonstrators are seen holding various signs and chanting, “Stop the coup!” Protests had been organized by the 50501 Movement, which is dedicated to organizing rallies in each of the 50 states. “50 protests. 50 states. 1 day,” their website reads.

The Associated Press reports:

Nearly 1,000 people marched in the snow from the Statehouse in Boston to City Hall, chanting “Elon Musk has got to go” and “No kings on Presidents Day!” The temperature was below freezing with wind chills in the teens. Boston protesters, some dressed in Revolutionary War-style clothing from the 1700s, carried signs saying such things as “This is a Coup” and “Cowards Bow to Trump, Patriots Stand Up.” One sign had a depiction of Uncle Sam saying “I Want You to Resist.”

DC News Now reports:

Many gathered in the nation’s capital Monday for the 50501 protest. At noon, the 50501 Movement held its “No Kings Day” protest on Presidents Day in Washington, D.C., at Union Square. Organizers said the movement is to “resist Project 2025” and fight for human rights, equality and justice. The group noted that the rallies are a response to “the anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies.”

Orlando’s NBC affiliate reports:

Protesters gathered outside Orlando’s City Hall Monday for a “Not My Presidents Day” rally – part of a nationwide effort to protest the policies of the Trump administration. It’s part of the 50-50-1 movement, which stands for 50 states, 50 protests, 1 movement. At noon, hundreds had gathered outside City Hall. His administration’s approach to foreign policy with regards to the Russia-Ukraine war is also a point of contention. And cuts to the federal government led by Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiencies, known as DOGE, are also drawing criticism.

Similar protests are taking place today at state capitols and city halls all over the country. A separate group of protests organized by the activist group Indivisible is targeting Tesla showrooms and the district offices of Congress members.
