Arizona Capitol Media reports:
A Republican from Surprise has abandoned his bid to enact a measure that would have made it illegal to display any but a select list of flags from government buildings.
Rep. Nick Kupper had managed to usher his HB 2113 through the House. And he was attempting to receive approval from the Senate Government Committee when he concluded that it really didn’t matter: It was “clear that Hobbs will veto.”
Kupper told Capitol Media Services that there were probably things he could do to pick up more support for his measure – not a single Democrat voted for it – but that it was too late to do further tinkering with the measure this year.
Read the full article. Kupper, who once competed on American Ninja Warrior, first appeared here in 2021 when he boasted to Fox News about refusing the COVID vaccine while on active duty in the military. Kupper’s X feed is mostly retweets of far-right cultists, including Libs Of TikTok.
UPDATED: After getting just 2 votes from Dems and facing a pretty certain @GovernorHobbs veto, @realnickkupper drops plans to limit which flags can be flown on public property. But he thinks bill can be tweaked next session to get more support. https://t.co/vDWFTfo7No pic.twitter.com/16xc7qI4EE
