The New York Times reports:
A liberal candidate for a pivotal seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court overcame $25 million in spending from Elon Musk and defeated her conservative opponent on Tuesday, The Associated Press reported, in a contest that became a kind of referendum on Mr. Musk and his slashing of the federal government.
With turnout extraordinarily high for a spring election in an off year, Judge Susan Crawford handily beat Judge Brad Schimel, who ran on his loyalty to President Trump and was aided by Mr. Musk, the president’s billionaire policy aide.
Mr. Musk not only poured money into the race but also campaigned personally in the state, even donning a cheesehead. But his starring role seemed to inflame Democratic anger against him even more than it helped Judge Schimel.
Al Jazeera reports:
In the 2016 election, Trump flipped Wisconsin alongside other blue wall states Pennsylvania and Michigan, all three of which were won back by former Democratic President Joe Biden in 2020. Trump won the three states again in November last year.
Ahead of the Wisconsin vote, Schimel earned an endorsement from Trump. On March 22, Trump posted in support of the conservative candidate on his Truth Social platform.
“Brad Schimel is running against Radical Left Liberal Susan Crawford, who has repeatedly given child molesters, rapists, women beaters, and domestic abusers ‘light’ sentences,” Trump wrote, without any evidence to back his accusations. He called Crawford “the handpicked voice of the Leftists”.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports:
Billionaire Elon Musk capped off his push to get conservative Brad Schimel elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court with a town hall in Green Bay Sunday night in which he handed out $2 million and said the state’s election results would affect “the entire destiny of humanity.”
While Schimel did not attend Musk’s event, other high-profile Wisconsin Republicans including Sen. Ron Johnson and U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy took the stage ahead of the tech CEO and close ally of President Donald Trump.

The cult, predictably, is screaming that the election was stolen by George Soros. Yeah.

Make no mistake: Musk made this WI election a referendum on himself and Trumpism. They were both soundly rejected in a swing state Trump carried four months ago. If I were GOP senators and members of Congress, I would be in full-blown panic. The emperor has no clothes.
