Via email from hate group leader Monica Cole:
DampRid offends conservative parents in one of its latest commercials. One Million Moms has received many complaints regarding the “Get Rid of the DAAAMP!” ad, which included insinuated profanity.
In this ad, the company attempts to promote its product that eliminates excess moisture in the air and subsequent damp, musty odors. Unfortunately, the advertisement takes an inappropriate turn at the end of this commercial.
After both parents and his grandmother say “DAAAMP!” several times, a child also says “DAAAMP!” The father gets onto his son and corrects him by stating, “Hey, language!” Of course, viewers understand exactly what is implied.
Foul language (or implication of it) is unnecessary in this or any advertisement. Yet, that is apparently what DampRid intended with this inappropriate slogan, which is used repeatedly throughout its latest commercial.
This type of advertising is entirely unnecessary, particularly when a young person echoes the implied foul language in the ad. Everyone knows children repeat what they hear. Typically, young actors attract young viewers.
What’s worse, DampRid’s advertisements air during prime time when families are most likely to watch. How damaging and destructive to children! DampRid should be more responsible in its marketing decisions.
From the petition:
I am highly offended by your new “DAAAMP!” marketing campaign. It is irresponsible to use insinuated profanity in advertisements. Everyone knows children repeat what they hear, particularly when a young person is the one speaking in the ad. I urge DampRid to cancel this commercial that includes the phrase “DAAAMP!” immediately. Until you clean up your ads, I cannot purchase your products in good conscience.
By my count, this is Monica’s 15th fucking complaint about implied fucking profanity in fucking commercials in the last fucking year.
