Santos Reverses And Begs Glorious Leader For Pardon

“This is the hardest statement I have ever written. I write this humbled, chastened, and fully accountable for choices that shattered the faith so many placed in me. I betrayed the confidence entrusted to me by many. For that, I offer my deepest apology.

“When I pled guilty, I did so without reservation. I said then, and I repeat now, that my conduct betrayed my supporters and diminished the institution I was privileged to serve. Those words have weighed on me every day since.

“I cannot rewrite the past, but I can control the road ahead. I asked the Court for a sentence that balances accountability with the chance to prove through sustained, measurable action that I can still contribute positively to the community I wronged.

I believe that 7 years is an over the top politically influenced sentence and I implore that President Trump gives me a chance to prove I’m more than the mistakes I’ve made.” – George Santos, posting last night to X.

From his Thursday New York Times interview:

While he continued to push back on the notion that he had led schemes that helped in part to elect him to Congress, he said that he accepted that he was guilty. So guilty, in fact, that he said he would not be seeking a pardon, or any special treatment from President Trump and his DOJ.

“The president knows my predicament. It’s not like it’s a secret,” he said in an interview. “If the president thinks I’m worthy of any level of clemency that is bestowed upon him, he can go ahead and do it, but for me to seek a pardon is to deny accountability and responsibility.”

Two days ago Trump pardoned a former candidate for governor of Nevada after she was convicted of raising money for a memorial to slain police officers but spending the donations on plastic surgery, credit card payments, and her daughter’s wedding. So we won’t be shocked in the least if Glorious Leader comes through for Kitara Revache.
